1. Search Grants.gov Search Grants.gov — the official listing of federal funding, filterable by eligibility, agency and funding instrument. Open
2. Have these ready
   • An active SAM.gov registration and the UEI it issues — you cannot submit without one
   • Which eligibility category you file under: small business, nonprofit, or government entity
   • The specific project the money would fund, and what it costs
3. Register in SAM.gov before you find a call Free, but activation can take up to ten business days; you cannot submit without the UEI. Open
4. Create a Grants.gov applicant account Applications submit through Grants.gov; its applicant registration is separate from SAM and also takes time. Open
5. Confirm which eligibility category you file under Small business, nonprofit, or government entity: applying in the wrong category wastes the attempt.

   Hunting for a grant to start a business. Nevada’s own startup guide lists none — its funding chapter is lenders, CDFIs and investors — and federal calls fund a defined project, not your start-up costs.
